The Art of
Allegory
"Each painting has its own
way of evolving. When the painting is finished , the subject reveals
itself." William Baziotes (early American painter)1912-1963
Oil or Acrylic
painters, would you like your creations to be more than just pretty
pictures? We will review, through Art history, allegorical themes
and painters of allegory. As we understand the concept, we will
develop our own work. Class structure will include guidance in
developing your creation and positive critiques at the end of each
session.
We will
interact as a group as well as 'one-on-one' with the instructor. For more information

This is a two day workshop for Oil or Acrylic painters who want to
explore new avenues or painters who have a painting that has reached
a standstill; perhaps a painting that you know is not finished but
you don’t know quite how to complete it. This is a class that
enlightens. The workshop is designed to point you in the direction
you want to go as a painter and to clarify your style. It is also
for painters who would like their creations to be more than, or
other than, just a “pretty picture”.
We will review through art history, allegorical themes and painters
of allegory. Allegorical art is based on intent. Class structure
will include guidance in developing your creation and positive
critiques midway and at the end of each class.
We will interact as a group as well as ‘one-on-one’ with the
instructor. Bring pictures, photos or a composite of images that
symbolize what you wish to express or that painting you wish to
resolve. This means a little bit of homework before you come to the
workshop. It would benefit everyone to look up painters of allegory
before class, as this is a joint discussion of information and
ideas. Some painting experience necessary. Supply list.
